Kurt brings extensive transactional experience to MDSW, with a focus on M&A, financing, and complex commercial agreements across technology, banking infrastructure, payment systems, and aerospace and defense. He also advises investment funds on capital raises and private offerings, and represents manufacturers in supply, joint venture, and distribution arrangements, including recent representation of an international electronics manufacturer in a $100m sale to a public buyer and an $85m sale of an audit and compliance firm to a private equity buyer following an F-reorg.
Beyond large transactions, Kurt serves as outside general counsel to small and middle-market companies, guiding clients from pre-formation through liquidity events. He regularly assists with organizational documents, leases, shareholder disputes, and employment matters, and draws on his LL.M in Taxation to advise on estate planning and the transfer of family-owned businesses to the next generation.
Kurt holds an LL.M in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law and graduated cum laude from Delaware Law School. He earned his MBA with a concentration in Finance, as well as his undergraduate degree, from the University of Delaware. A Maryland native, Kurt grew up in Cecil County and developed a longstanding connection to the Eastern Shore through his martial arts training. In college, he moved to Salisbury where he worked as an engineering intern, and later attended the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy, after which he served as an officer for the Ocean City Police Department. His legal career eventually took him beyond Maryland, but he is glad to have returned to his roots and remains actively involved in the community. Kurt served on the Board of Directors of Tri-State Christian Academy in Elkton and actively teaches martial arts in the Cambridge area.
