Matthew A. Pearl is an experienced estates and trusts attorney. He focuses his practice in Estate Planning, including the use of trusts for probate avoidance, asset protection and tax planning, Estate Administration, and Elder Law, including Medical Assistance (Medicaid) planning and eligibility. Matt works closely with individuals and families in various life stages to design estate plans tailored to each individual’s specific needs and circumstances, including drafting various estate planning documents and working with clients through and beyond the final execution of their plans.
Matt develops detailed, custom-tailored estate plans based on clients’ unique familial and financial backgrounds. He designs and prepares an extensive array of estate planning documents, including revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance directives, and life estate deeds.
Prior to joining McAllister, DeTar, Showalter & Walker (MDSW), Matt practiced in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate Administration, and Elder Law with Sims & Campbell, LLC for more than four years. In addition to practicing in the areas of Estate Planning, Estate Administration, and Elder Law, he also previously practiced in the areas of Civil Litigation, including representation of clients in Will disputes and fiduciary litigation, Corporate Transactions, and Real Estate.
Matt practices primarily out of the firm’s Annapolis office and lives in Timonium with his wife and kids. Matt earned his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law with honors.
As both a member of the executive committee of the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council and a member of the Section Counsel for the Elder Law and Disability Rights (ELDR) Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA), Matthew is actively involved in the local legal community.
