Kirby represents individuals, families and businesses in a wide range of estate planning and end-of-life issues as well as real estate/zoning and business matters, both as an advisor and a litigator. As part of her estates and trusts practice, Kirby counsels individuals and families to develop custom estate and succession plans that are tailored to the client’s specifics needs helping to protect and maintain their legacy for years to come. Having extensive courtroom experience litigating fiduciary, estate, trust, and guardianship cases, provides Kirby with the unique ability to advise her clients on ways to mitigate risks that frequently lead to trusts and estate litigation.
Kirby also routinely practices in the areas of complex commercial as well as general civil litigation including business and contract disputes, and actions regarding real estate and property rights. She managed a publicly traded company’s tort litigation and related claims across all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico, and provides outside counsel services to various in-house legal departments.
Kirby is a member of the Maryland Bar and the bar for the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation and serves on the Character Committee for the First Appellate Circuit of Maryland.
Kirby received her undergraduate degree from James Madison University before attending law school at Florida Coastal School of Law, where she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. A native of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Kirby began her legal career as the law clerk to the Honorable Thomas G. Ross in the Circuit Court of Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. Kirby lives in Easton with her husband and daughter.
